gusta el gusto

On Saturday Philly and i attended one of his workmates birthday bbq on the Cerro.
Turning up an hour late (i am so friggin Chillean)after a 45 minute walk up the hill, i was MORE THAN ready for some Guacemole. And boy oh boy was there Guacemole!

I really have to say this was probably THE best bbq i have ever been to.
Normally im so disapointed by the 'chargrilled' (aka. burnt) food wrapped in bread buns (aka. my stomach's arch enemy) and the 'atmosphere' (aka. smelly hair and watering eyes).

BUT

The Guacemole was awesome, the sausages amazing and that was seriously the best chicken i have ever ever ever ever ever ever tasted.

After a few drinks (piscola ofcourse) and after having my bag stolen and then rescued by some of the Chillean boys who chased after the thief, Philly and i were understandably feeling a tad sleepy from the ordeal and so began the long journey home.

First a stop halfway down the hill to enjoy the view, then a stop in Patio Bellavista for a Fro-yo, the  a taxi to the cinema to watch whatever film was still playing.
This happened to be 'El Rito'. The Anthony Hopkins film about exorcism which we had both previously sworn not to see.

That was probbaly initially a wise move.

Despite the 2 hour show of devil talk, pregnant girls being exorcised and killing themselves and eery music and perfectly placed gusts of wind, i somehow managed to fall asleep three times.

On our walk home we noticed the appartment oposite mine was in full swing- most likely the after party from the bbq.
Quite embrassing that we left to eat fro-yo and popcorn at the cinema.

Whatever.
Im totally cool with my life choices, OK!?

NEWS OF THE WEEK

Ugandan president may release rap album

President Yoweri Museveni says he might release an album after a rap he performed became a smash hit on Uganda's radio stations and  nightclubs.
The leader, nicknamed "M7", performed two children's folk chants at several election rallies over the last few months;

- "Naatema akati" (I cut a stick) and "Mp'enkoni" (Give me the stick).

Record producers then mixed the performances with hip-hop beats and audio of Museveni talking to the crowd about a genre of music that he said was new to him.
"Today these young people taught me about this 'rap'. I was not following what they were saying. Well, I can even give you some rap myself,".
- The song was titled, "You want another rap?".
Ruling party officials were pleased with the popularity of the song but issued warnings to some newspapers after they published doctored photographs of a topless Museveni with a muscled and heavily tattooed torso.

Peanut Choccie Scrum Scrum

This lil fella is of my own invention.
He's yummy.
Alas no photo.
Enjoy.

Peanut Choccie Scrum Scrum

Preset your oven to 180 C and grease up a bread mold.

Mapley/Biscuitty base
In a large bowl mix soft butter and brown sugar.
Add an egg, a good ol blob of Maple Syrup and some Vanilla essence.
Mix in some flour, baking powder and a teensy smidge of salt.
Squidge this on the bottom on your bread pan.

Nutty Butty bit.
Ontop sprinkle dessicated coconut, then peanuts and chopped up milk or dark chocolate.
Drizzle condensed milk ontop so that it coveres all the nutterrific concoction.

Pop in the oven for around 15 minutes.
Take out and sprinkle more dessicated coconut ontop and then pop that baby right back in!

Take out when it looks done and set aside to cool.
Later cut into bars and MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH.

Good for movie nights or making desserts without wanting to actually bake anything that has the possibility of going wrong.

Should vaguely resemble this.

SCREW YOU NASTY GAL!

That's right.
I said it.
Screw YOU Nasty Gal.
Screw you and your constant adverts on EVERY website i go on.
The Guardian, Word reference, Facebook, The Huffington post...

Normally i could handle it, but this has gone too far.

I CAN NOT purchase anything from you as i currently live in CHILE and have NO money.
So unless you're advertising a job for a 20 year old stylist with very little styling experience who speaks French Spanish and English (free clothes included) please REFRAIN from rubbing your beautiful, overpriced clothing ranges in my visage!

And as for YOU ASOS....
I expected better from you.

chocolate drops, sprinkles or both?

PANCAKE DAY.
It just happened.
I feel sick.
Urgh.
So sick.

Many of you may now be thinking, "who is this chick?? Pancake day is in March!"
Well, you would be right. But i had my reasons.
Shnugglepuff (Isabelle) will be off traveling with her parents for the month of March, so we decided to stick together and ride the pancake wave together before she leaves next weekend. Plus i thought an obscene surge of gluten, chocolate drops, maple syrup and butter was a good way to kick start my early bird lent.

Blueberry and Vanilla pancake with Dulce de leche ice cream and chocolate drops.

Vanilla pancake with maple syrup, butter and chocolate drops.

Vanilla pancake chocolate drops, Maple syrup and Sprinkles.

Vanilla pancake with butter and sprinkles.

We had 3 each.
Ouch.
Obviosuly after that we felt repulsive and ill and sick (especially those of us who are allergic to the main ingredients involved).
So, 2 hours later, after 2 more episodes of The Bachelor we made fajitas. OBVIOUSLY.
They.were.good.

Can't wait to never look at food again.
How handy that my Lent starts tomorrow!
Good one, Dais!
