la vie en grève

It is 9.44am and i am awoken to- not the busy traffic outside or the possible light streaming through my windows, but the sound of hundreds of angry French voices marching down my street, horns blowing, fists in the air. That's right folks. Its grève season.
The 6ème grève since i arrived.

In other news....
I am now no longer working at MC.

It just seemed pointless sitting at a computer all day doing nothing when my main reason for being here is to speak French and having the internship, the extra lessons, the 30 page dissertation, 2 exams, 4 smaller essays and 6 oral presentations as well as the 2 translations and 1 big essay for Kings i have to do was just turning out to be too much.
Surprise, surprise.
...........So, im carrying on with the extra lessons, quitting MC and the dissertation and looking for a job in a bar or restaurant. :)

Much better.

So for now its bye bye fashion, hello food!
........but just for now.

From dawn until afternoon

9.30pm Drinks at Emilie's
11pm Meet Alex at 72 rue de l'Université

We turn up to the outside of your average Parisian building with a bouncer outside who ticks off our names and opens the huge door to let us in. Obviously ones heads straight for a drink, but instead a skinny Parisian boy blocks our way with yet another list we have to be crossed off of once we've paid our 10 euros.

Hello Gossip Girl.
The entirity of the courtyard of the building and a huge entrance room and red carpeted stairway was full of people with huge matresses on the floor of the courtyard and an endless supply of free drinks and carambars(which were surprisingly the cause of a fight).
The girl's parents owned the building!

Taken over by a cheeky urge, we ran up the huge red carpeted spiral staircase leading away from the party and slowly turning pitch black. We ran up staircases, along hallways and through unlocked doors until we reached the very top floor of the building.

After Alex finally found his way back to Edie after a Dance Battle at Assemblée Nationale metro station, we fell asleep at 7am.......only to be woken up by a text at 11.30!!!
GROSSSSS

I drunkenly/ hungoverly shoved clothes on and headed to Notre Dame to meet a family friend, returning to Edie at 2pm (this time by the lift- 6 flights of stairs just werent an option) to find both the boys still comatosed and Camille tenderly clutching Phiglet- that pig gets around.

After sitting in bed until 5pm (this time plus Renan) we headed to Le Marais for a stroll and some tea at le Chinon.
We turned down the offer of an invite to the Cointreau party at Dita Von Tease's new bar for pumpkin puree, hot chocolate and facebook. Très chic.
Seriously.
Who are theses people!?
I NEED TO SLEEP!!

La Courgette

urgh.
Just got up at 2pm HUNGRYYYYYY and HUNGOVERRR.
First thought- Fridge.
Alas, it was a little empty so what was supposed to be a huge binge sesh was more a whole raw courgette with 2 cream cheese pots i stole from MC, brocoli puree, courgette puree, 2 tins of sweetcorn and 4 caramel candies........possibly the healthiest binge ever. Though now our fridge is a little worse for wear.

After another rather dull day at work, where the highlight was taking my own initiative in pinning up the new invites for the film premieres and taking down the old ones, i returned home to Anni still in her pyjamas at 7pm and dead asleep on her bed (a pre-party power nap).
An episode of gossip girl, cauliflower puree and a hot chocolate later and we were dressed and heading down our 6 flights of strairs- heels stuffed in our bags.
10pm Pub Shop.
12pm Alex's loft
2am 1515
6am vélib back home to Edie.

Just received some rather curious looks from the MC staff in the canteen.
My normal small lunch (which seems to have become, strangely, fairly well known amongst the canteen gals) went from your standard small bowl of fromage blanc to 2 large salads, 2 pots of honey, a banana and an apple.

The looks got worse as i then sat down as far away as possible from some very official looking people (which only ended up being 2 seats away) and emptied both salads into some hench tuppa wear i had brought with me.

I then got up, brushed the grated carrott from my last season Urban Outfitters tweed and made my way back to my very important desk, piled high with very important things.

Classy.

Can't wait for dinner tonight, Anni!

Salut mes amis

Basically, i too have always been an anti-blog kinda gal (much like our good friend Laura), however, long hours sitting in front of a screen doing nothing at a lil' known place called Marie Claire has been enough to convince me otherwise.

Literally, until today my greatest excitement each day working at MC was the crazy lunch choices in the canteen- I am seriously going to miss apple puree being EVERYWHERE when i go back home.

However, today i returned to my desk from another successful fromage blanc, apple puree, raspberry coulis and honey concoction to find a casual lil post-it stuck to a huge wad of papers telling me i had to replace a journalist at a press conference for the death penalty at the Palais du Luxembourg in half an hour..........
Right.
WHAT THE HELL!?
What to i do?
Where do i go?
Are they seriously going to let a small 5 year old looking 20 year old in Doc Martins with gold nail polish and a bag with pears on it casually amble on into the Palais du Luxembourg?

I may have got a few odd looks, but yes i was eventually allowed in, despite not being on the list.

After making friends with a government official i braved the vélib solo this time and cycled my way home in the rain..... somehow managing to not fall into a taxi or a man as i did the night before.
Practise makes perfect.
